There is immense value in the digital collection of wedding images. It is the digital collection of images that can be shared via social media, and hundreds of moments can be preserved on a hard drive no bigger than your thumb. Wedding albums however, are keepsake heirloom items. The digital-age of photography allows us to easily share images freely and openly. As an artist, my goal is to create beautiful, timeless imagery that will last a lifetime. Classic is always in style. Wedding albums are also classic, timeless and beautiful. My parents’ wedding album is still cherished to this day after more than 45 years of marriage. Times have certainly changed. Hairstyles, trends, color schemes, timelines, traditions, and venue choices have all changed. What has remained constant over the years is the power of the printed photograph. A printed photograph displayed in a beautiful, hand-crafted wedding album does something that a digital file cannot do. It is concrete, tangible and interpersonal. You will no doubt pass down the digital collection of images to your family,but it’s the wedding album’s physical presence, that will serve as the conversation starter. It is the wedding album that you will pull out to show your friends and family – stories will be told, laughter will ensue. The physical album will be passed around the room allowing each person to have their own personal viewing experience. Each turn of the page will trigger an anecdote about that special day that will evoke fondness, joy, laughter, or all of the above. This is why we think of the wedding album, (not the digital files) as heirlooms.

My parents have been married for 45 years come this June. Their wedding album is a piece of their history. The original album is presented in a 25-page spread, telling the story of their humble beginnings. No one else has an album like theirs, it’s unique and original to them, not because of the actual album, but because of the story that lies within the pages. Everyone’s stories are different, we all have a great love story to be told.

The past 45 years have been full of many ups and downs for my parents, the roller coaster of marriage is one of great depth. Opening the pages of their wedding album brought me back to the day of their wedding. I, of course was not there, but I couldn’t help but feel as if I was there, standing on those chapel steps, one glorious June day. I hope that every married couple has the opportunity to share those memories with their children, as they to envision their parents in the prime of their lives. My parents have 3 children and 6 grandchildren, I can’t even imagine the feeling of one day showing my grandchildren my wedding album, hearing them say “wow, grandma, you look young!” What a great moment to share with your loved ones.

Weddings are about marriages.

Wedding albums are about great love stories.

The explosion of technology has fooled us in thinking the only way to share our lives is through electronic devices. Your family legacy begins on your wedding day, make sure you have a tangible item – the wedding album, to pass onto generations to come.

My parents have been married for 45 years this June. They have 3 children ages 44, 42 and 32 (that’s me), 6 grandchildren ages 17, 14, 11, 9, 5, and 3.

This is my mother in law holding her wedding album. She and my father in law have been married for 34 years this year. They have 2 children ages 33 and 28 and 4 grandchildren ages 5, 4, 3, and 2!

This is my sister holding her wedding album, she has been married for 15 years, her and my brother-in-law have 2 children, ages 17 and 14.

The legacy begins with you.

Their home states of Oregon and Indiana are worlds apart for these young doctors. Medical school brought these two together many years ago. Milwaukee is home now, Bay View to be exact and that’s where I met them last week for their windy, South Shore engagement session. Cheryl and John are super easy-going and laid back, they chose the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center for their late September wedding. It’s a perfect location for these two, everything is in one place, plenty of time to relax and simply enjoy the day’s events. I can’t wait to photograph their big day among the gorgeous fall colors Wisconsin has to offer. For now, here are some images from last week’s session!

High school acquaintances, turned friends, turned boyfriend and girlfriend, turned soon to be husband and wife, make up this adorable duo I photographed over the weekend. Kristen and Chris are super laid-back, down to earth and love the outdoors. The Schlitz Audubon Nature Center made the perfect backdrop for this easy-going, nature loving couple. I met them today on this oh so brisk Sunday for their engagement session, with spring certainly in the air, though the temps did not make us believe it! Many weekends are spend hanging out up north, living the rustic life, enjoying the outdoors hunting, fishing and simply relaxing. Kristen and Chris will wed this fall with a close group of family and friends by their side. Can’t wait to document their big day. Here are some images from today’s spring-y session!

Lots of birthdays this week at LMP! This little guy celebrated his 1st birthday today! Mr. C stopped into the studio yesterday with his sweet mommy and grandparents for a quick photo op!! He is back in town from sunny SoCal to visit his grandparents and party it up at his Elmo-themed birthday festivities. Hope you have a wonderful day Mr. C! This week’s installment of InstaLife is a bit overdo Most of these images are from a few weeks ago. I’ve got a ton going on this week, head shot, one year and engagement session all coming up between now and Sunday and lots of other happenings around here. I’m hoping to do a little spring cleaning this weekend and paint two tables I’ve had forever. My hubby and I are working on a special project that we are hoping to have done very soon!! If you’re a photographer, you won’t want to miss this!!! Trust me! More on that soon!

Two law students meet in Ann Arbor, Michigan years ago not really looking for love. By a twist of fate, and deferred job opportunities in New York City, these two had time on their side. After spending some time together after graduating law school, Lisa and Steve decided love was on their side and moved to Chicago together to pursue their careers as budding young lawyers. Though Lisa hails from the suburbs of Milwaukee, they now call Chicago home, which is where I met them on Sunday. It was a glorious sunny, somewhat warm day on Chicago’s Northerly Island. We had a great time chatting about the city and all things wedding. The two will wed this August at the Milwaukee Art Museum, one of my favorite venues in the city. It’s going to be an amazing day for these two, I can’t wait!

Miss I will be celebrating her first birthday next week! What better way to celebrate than with a studio session to document her 1 year big day! I first met Miss I’s parents almost 3 years ago when I photographed their laid-back, late summer wedding in Green Lake, WI. They have since grown their family to include this little cutie. Isn’t she adorable?? Thanks for braving the nasty cold weather and stopping by my studio to hang out for a bit! I really love these images, hope her parents do too!

It’s time for another installment of InstaLife! Since purchasing an iphone last May I’ve taken over a 1,000 photos. Wow! That’s a lot!!! I do still bring my real camera along on family trips but sometimes for just the everyday things, an iphone will do. I’m smitten with Apple products. I have to admit that I have turned away from them for a long time and stuck with good ol’ Dell and HP, but lately I’ve been learning about all the functions of Apple products and decided to make the switch over to an iMac for my business work. I’ll keep you posted on that once I finally get around to switching, hopefully later this month.

Anyway, here are our iphone adventures from earlier this year.

Heather & Greg | Chicago Wedding Photographer

I met Heather and Greg a few months ago when they stopped into the studio on a weekend they were back in town visiting family. They originally met in high school back in Keil, WI many years ago and have since relocated to the windy city pursuing their careers. Chicago was the perfect place for their engagement session, as this is now their new home as they become husband and wife later this year. I love traveling to Chicago for sessions, the city has so much to offer. There are of course a few down-sides to the city, one being the traffic the other the wind! I met Heather and Greg at the Planetarium on Chicago’s South Shore to begin their engagement session. It was quite windy on Saturday, with gusts more than 40 miles per hour. That didn’t stop us from creating some beautiful images! After nearly blowing away, we headed to the Lincoln Park Zoo pond to snap a few more images with their adorable pooch! Here’s a peak that their windy city engagement session!
